Are you suggesting that your parents won't notice that you have cancer and are getting treatment? Doubtful. If you are a minor, HIPA laws do not apply and your parents will be told.

A doctor cant treat a minor unless it is an emergency without parental consent.

This varies dependent on where you live and your age and maturity. Normally, parents would be involved in the decision making process.

Hi, Your name must be Hanna Montana, and you will need to have $50,000 to get very much cancer treatment without telling your parents, and getting their insurance to cover some of the cost. Why are you worried about telling them? Do you really think that your parents will not support you through cancer treatments? I know a neighbor who's daughter got AIDS when she was young. That is tough to tell a parent about. Mom I was having - well I am infected, and now what? It ended up that both of them died a few years later. There are AIDS support groups - want to meet some depressed people? The only happy people in the room are the ones that got mis-diagnosed, and are actually healthy but had a false positive AIDS test, and joined the support group thinking that they actually had AIDS. Many times cancer is curable IF it is discovered and treated properly in a timely manner. If you don't have $50,000 sitting around, then I suggest that you tell your parents that you might have cancer, and need to seek treatment. If you don't have cancer, congratulations. Perhaps they can find a psychiatrist, so you can discuss your need to gain attention. Fairly hard to take advice? Welcome to the real world. If you have cancer, do you really want to be making the decisions like how much chemo to take? If you are a child, then it is best to leave this up to your parents. Believe me it is difficult to sign that paperwork that say your daughter can die from the drugs given to make the operation successful, and without the operation her life will probably end in a few weeks or months. I was in the pre-surgery room 5 times with a little girl that liked to call me Daddy. It is heartbreaking to leave then in the hands of the doctors. And you want to be the "Adult" in charge of decisions like this? Get over whatever your fear is. Believe that your parents made certain mistakes in their lives when they where your age. You did not really get delivered by a stork at midnight and left under the Christmas tree- no matter how innocent your parents want to think you are, I guess that you are doing adult things, and can gain the courage to tell them whatever they need to know. You are willing to tell a doctor things, but not your very closest friend that you will ever have in your life? Ask God to make you bold enough to tell your parents. Or at least write them a letter. They really need to know. Think of it this way. If you had a daughter, is there ANYTHING that they can say that will cause you to reject them? They might be upset for a little while, probably less upset than you are worried about them getting. Then concern will override any disappointment that they might have. 10 years from now, think about this e-mail, and then realize that your kids can say anything to you, and you might be upset for only a short time. But you will forgive, just as you have been forgiven. They will forgive just as they wish to be forgiven someday. Good Luck!
