There may be some help (medicare, medicaid), you should be asking your oncological social worker for help in locating local resources. National Cancer Institute: Financial Assistance and Other Resources for People With Cancer http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/support/financial-assistance ACS: Health Insurance and Financial Assistance for the Cancer Patient http://www.cancer.org/docroot/MIT/content/MIT_3_2X_Medical_Insurance_and_Financial_Assistance_for_the_Cancer_Patient.asp Good luck to you.

Contact your state's Department of Health and inquire about eligibility for Medicaid and other government-managed programs. Some states have special financial support programs for specific types of cancer, such as breast and cervical. You may also contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 to seek information. The ACS maintains a national database of programs to assist cancer patients. Hopefully, they can steer you in a promising direction. Your hospital's Patient Accounts Department should have counselors who can facilitate your application(s) for financial assistance. Hospitals do not want to turn away patients and would much rather help patients secure treatment funding. The risk that you are facing, but may not yet realize, is that your future treatment may be delayed until you have secured funding. Make this task a leading priority for yourself. America's health care system presents unique challenges for uninsured and under-insured patients. America desperately needs universal government-managed health care for every citizen, just like every other developed country already has.
