Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew has esophageal cancer. What's the treatment for that?
Killebrew informed the world today of his current battle with esophageal cancer. He is being treated at the Mayo Clinic in the Phoenix area. He also said he expects to make a full recovery. How treatable is this kind of cancer? Killebrew is a great guy and we need to pray for him.

http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/disease/esophageal-cancer/overview.html http://medicineworld.org/cancer/gi/esophageal/treatment.html Treatment of esophageal cancer depends upon stage of the disease and the general physical condition of the patient. Let's hope he does make a full recovery. Seems like everyone gets cancer these days. I STRONGLY AGREE WITH TOUGH GUY.

First of all to Rock Firestorm, pray for him crap? Keep your religion to yourself? First of all as Americans living in a free country, who in the hell are you tell me I can or cannot pray for someone? And just what business is it of yours anyway? If you don't like it, get over it as most normal and decent people pray for others and not just Christians either and it does help. Maybe you should try to be less judgemental. Harmon Kilibrew was a great ballplayer and a very good human being and he deserves our support and yes, prayers too and it certainly doesn't hurt anything. As an advanced cancer survivor that has faith in God, it helped me through it as my cancer had metastasized. A best friend of mine died of espphageal cancer at the age of 36 years old and it' a very serious and deadly form of cancer. Hopefully they caught his early enough to treat it and that he heals soon and recovers. If it's in stage O and it hasn't spread to the esophagus lining, his chances are 34% for 5 year survivor. Past that it goes rapidly down and in the last stage it's only about 2-3%. Pray for Harmon Kilebrew!

We have the religious freedom in this country to pray for who we want to, when we want to. That's one of the reasons we kicked the damn British out of here so we can have that. Pray for Harmon Killebrew, a great ballplayer, and go to church and light a candle for him also if you so desire.

Chemotherapy. My grandpa went through esophageal cancer 12 years ago. I hope Harmon turns out better than my grandpa :( My grandpa was at the VA, a pipe smoker, and.. well, it was 12 years ago. Harmon is at Mayo, probably the best hospital in the world, (though I've only been to Rochester's, where my neurologist is). I don't think he smokes, and they've made HUGE medical progression since my grandpa died. My grandpa needed a breathing tube for his. I don't know if that's normal, but his was really bad. Harmon's may not be. How treatable is it? It depends on when they caught it. If they caught it early, there's a good chance. If not, then it won't be so easy. You're right in saying he needs prayers, and mine are definitely with him!
