I am sorry you find yourself needing to deal with this. I would ask your doctor to clarify his or her comments and to ask about follow up surveliance. There are many variables that are unique to the individual -- a good link on recurrance is at http://www.webmd.com/content/article/46/1662_52470?z=1662_00000_0000_rl_08

Most of the time when a person has a recurrance of breast cancer it has spread to a distant part of the body, such as the bones or lungs. When that occurs you go from your current stage to stage 4, which is considered 'terminal'. You can check out www.komen.org or www.cancer.org to get further information if you'd like. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34, so I definitely understand what you're going through and I hope my answer helped you understand.
