anyone had trouble getting employed after cancer treatment?
i had cancer last year and all the associated treatment like chemo and surgeries. now i am having a hard time find a job, seems most employers shy away from hiring me because i have to have a blood tests once a month. of course they don't tell me this directly, well, the state department did, but i know i am plenty qualified for the positions i applied for. i am in college now not only for the education but just so i could get the college loan money to live off of. anyone else had this problem? the employers find out on the required health screening that i have to have for the jobs.

How did your employer find out about your cancer?

I've always been up front from the beginning. One of the first things that I've mentioned is my cancer check-up's. I wanted to get that out of the way, just in case that would influence the decision to hire me or not. It's never affected me from getting a job. I've currently been with my job 3 years and plan on being here for a long time. I really hope you do get a job soon. Just tell them about your cancer check-ups early in the interview. I think you will gain a lot of respect that way. I think some people try to hide that until the end, which loose them a lot of respect. Good Luck!

I'm still looking for a job...I'm perfectly able to work, that's what bothers me the most.having cancer has nothing to do with respect(in my opinion)
