Cancer Treatment Cost?
I am thinking that Brutis might have cancer, he has a little lump on his chest for a couple months, he is a 1 year old boxer mix. The lump doesnt seems to brother him; however, if i start rubbing on his lump area, he seems tickle... I am guessing it might be something call histiocytomas or Mast Cell Tumor. It is pink in color, about the size of a thumb. I am planning to buy him a pet insurance from petcare and getting the one with 100% coverage. Does anyone know how much does it costs for doing a cancer surgery? they have one that cover up to 3000 dollars and one that cover 6000 dollars. Thanks

It might not be anything, it could even be a simple hernia. ANway, before you get the policy (and cancer surgery and followups can cost more than 10 grand), make sure you read the fine print...I bought one that only covered 1/2 of the total policy amount, and NOTHING PRE-EXISTING (meaning if I had cancer today and bought the policy tomorrow, nope, sorry! )... Good luck, the only way to know is to have a vet look at it, take a sample...

Don't jump to conclusions, it might not be cancer, it could be something more simple. My dog has a lump on the top of his head, that we joked was a dumb knot, but it kept getting bigger, and started to loose hair till it looked like a big pink bump on his head. We took him to the vet and it turned out to be just cell clump I guess would be the best way to put it. It can be easily removed with no problem. Maybe this is what your dog has? don't panic, just get it looked at so you know for sure.

To remove the lump and send it off to the lab it should be a few hundred dollars. More if the dog needs to spend the night. My dog was in for other surgery when a lump was found, so they just removed the lump while they were in there. The cost of sending it to the lab alone was $98. The cost of the surgery was several hundred dollars, but that was for something else, they didn't charge me for removing the lump. I would think lump removal would be somewhere around $300. I'm guessing. The lump came back as cancerous, so more tests were needed. Another $100. But thankfully, other than regular check ups and tests, the vet says the cancer is gone and no further treatment is necessary at this time. Hope this helps. Good luck to you and your pup.

There is a huge difference b/w histiocytomas and mast cell tumors!!!! Histiocytomas are benign (not cancer) occur in dogs under age 2 and will go away on their own. Mast cells are cancer and need to be removed by a Vet. I doubt that it is a mast cell tumor since your dog is 2. Go to a vet! Tumor removals are only like $300 but first have the vet check it. If it is a histiocytoma-we let them go away on their own, they are harmless.

plz don't jump to conclusions it could be a simple cyst which doesn't necessarly have to be cancerous take him to the vet and get him checked . i had a siberian husky which was 13 i found out she had liver cancer and they wanted to treat her with chemo i thought about it for days i decided against it she was old and i would of not wanted to put her threw all that but anyway it would of cost me thousands of dollars to do but alot of vets have credit plans when your dog needs surgery good luck if it turns out to be serious i would go with surgery which your dog is young and has a long life ahead of her
