Hereditary Breast Cancer treatment success...?
My maternal grandfather passed away at age 54 of cancer. My maternal grandmother passed this Summer 2010 at age 68 of breast and ovarian cancer. My mom (age 48) was diagnosed with breast cancer not long after that. The cancer is in multiple places in her breast as well as in her lymph nodes. She is now being treated with chemo. She has a quite a history of cancer in her family. Please be honest. Does this decrease the likelihood of successful treatment??

I don't think the history decreases her cancers of successful treatment because you have to also add the fact that between each person you've talked about, new discovery and advances have also been made so that's another consideration. Good luck.

Whether or not her breast cancer is hereditary it has no bearing on survivability.

My sister had breast cancer 18 years ago, my aunt has had it twice and I was diagnosed with it 6 years ago. Although it seems to run in some families it isn't always heriditary. Not all breast cancers are the same, Sometimes the cancer is hormone receptive or it can be DCIS, or invasive. Since you are aware of a history of breast cancer in your family it might be a good idea to be tested for the BRCA gene mutation. This can be an indicator that you might (not necessarily will, just might be at a greater risk to get breast cancer too). Your doctor can explain more.
