Job Information involving Cancer Treatment?
Hi im going into my junior year of high school and im thinking of going to college for helping fight cancer...however I do not think that I can deal with having to do actual surgery...so I was wondering what jobs are out there that include being able to help fight against it but without doing surgery??? Thanks

Oncologists and oncological surgeons are two different things. An oncologist/hemotologist is a doctor who diagnose, come up with treatment plans, and are the oversee the treatment for cancer patients. A surgeon who specializes in oncology and tumors does the surgery. Other career paths to consider . . oncological nursing, oncological radiation, oncological social worker, pediatric oncologist . . or work in an oncology office.

You could be a nurse - work directly with the patient or you could work in ICU You could be a Radiologist/Technician - taking MRI's and/or CT Scans You could be a Patient Advisor in a Hospital. You could help direct the patient to the proper resources to help them in their fight against cancer. You could be a researcher in the laboratory - either at the drug company or at the Cancer Institute trying to find a cure. Thank you on wanting to help those with cancer. I wish there were more like you.

If you can't stand the sight of blood, then that excludes all medical professions as possible career choices. You may wish to get involved in the administrative aspects of cancer treatment. You could be a cancer registrar or fundraiser.
