Hypothetically, would it be wrong to refuse to help pay for a parent's treatment for lung cancer if they smoke?
and you have been telling them their whole life to quit?

So you're saying you'd rather see your parent die instead of help pay for a treatment for a self-caused illness? Okay then...
3 :
sure it would
4 :
yes it's wrong...you should always be on their side through good or bad times

No but be sure to have them sign the reimbursement form.

It is your parents and they don't have to listen to their children, it should be the other way around. Besides, if someone has lung cancer, they won't be around very long. Why make their life here on earth more miserable than what it already is. I'd say help them!

That's like not paying medical costs for a snowboarder who broke his leg. It's both unethical and disgusting. They do it whilst understanding the risks.

It is what is but they are your parents they would do it for you
9 :
Yes, if they died I'm sure you'd feel pretty bad...

Hypothetically, your parents would pay for you if you were arrested due to driving too fast, or using drugs. SO you should, no, you MUST, pay for them :)

Yes..... but i would do it anyway!!! I couldnt NOT save their life just "out of principle".

um it depends.. cuz if it was my parents an they had lung cancer then i would hide their cigarettes every chance i got an i would take them away an ask them if they really loved me an if they really did then they would want to stay in this world with me.. cuz they eventually die from lung cancer.. i would make them quit! then i would pay for the treatment..

This is in a way, a subjective question. But for me, my love for my parents is unconditional. I wouldn't have to think twice to help them. Not saying this is a justifiable reason to let a loved one die from something self inflicted but I can acknowledge that there might be reasons why there'd people who don't share this view. But for me, I would do everything I could to help.
