If you deny the "Theory of Evolution" and found you had cancer, would you refuse treatment that...?
was based in evolutionary theory, as most cancer treatments are? If not, how is it not hypocritical to accept the benefits of evolutionary theory, and yet fight to keep that same thing out of our schools? Thank you for helping me understand this. For those who were unclear about cancer treatment and their basis in evolution, you can read up here: http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=cancer+evolutionary+biology&hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&oi=scholart

People have tried this argument before. Creationists don't connect the two.
2 :
It is hypocritical but most hypocrites will turn a blind eye to certain issues IF it is to their benefit.
3 :
First explain how cancer treatment is based upon a theory. Then relate exactly how it's evolutionary theory at that.

...wait, wut? How are cancer treatments based on evolutionary theory? o_0 Last I checked, chemotherapy didn't play a role in evolution. Unless you mean how the radiation can cause mutations. But even then the cancer treatments weren't found because of evolution. Troll harder.

How exactly are cancer treatments based upon evolutionary theory? Are you suggesting that cancer evolves? There's nothing wrong with taking an evolutionary *approach* to biology and medicine. It does not require drinking the evolutionary Kool-Aid, however, to do so. Has anyone rejected the idea of living because creationists believe that life was created by God? Isn't this also hypocritical in the same way? Your question is simply illogical.

No, if a person denies evolution they can still accept a drug that was based on evolutionary biology. just because a drug works and its development is consistent with evolutionary biology doesn't have to mean that it is true. Maxwell originally formulated part of his equations due to 'knowledge' of the Aether.

The same way you obey our list of laws that was traditionally founded upon religious beliefs. Just because it's intended one way doesn't mean it won't work. Just because I tell you not to kill someone (Because God says so) doesn't mean you should kill him because you don't believe in God. If you believe in evolution, and using, what I'm guessing is actually not evolution, but natural selection, you find a cure for cancer, good for you. I believe God created the world, and that means your beliefs can't disprove him. So even if you believe that the Great Pumpkin blessed your medicine, I could still take it. But honestly, I've never been to a doctor... No need.

The knowledge of the origins of man is unnecessary for developing treatments for human diseases, and whoever told you otherwise is a lying propagandist. I'll have you know that the majority of the great scientists in history were creationists and they did just fine without the fairy tale of macro evolution.

but then again if you were thirsting to death and the only drink around was holy water, would you drink it? haha, sorry bad comparison... i wonder if drinking holy water is allowed... but i'm sure they wouldn't deny treatment... it does seem hypocritical to me too. medicine would be way less advanced if kids weren't taught evolution in school...

wouldn't it be hypocritical if they got medical treatment instead of praying for god

i believe that denying any treatment that is meant to save your life is an act of stupidity, unless your sickness is so far advanced their is no other hope. Six years ago i had the beginnings of cancer on my cervix, which was found through a routine examination. The doctor gave me an ultimatum and if I had not gone through what I did, not only would I have had full blown cancer in four more years, i would not have my beautiful little blue eyed son. Noone in my family has blue eyes, so I beleive that the Lord saw fit to give him that color as it is the color of the heavens, reminding me of the wonderful love that He has for me.

My sister in-law is a gene biologist who works on discovering treatments for disease. Evolution is evident to her on a daily basis, she would have a field day with these creationists, but she wouldn't waste her time since she has more important stuff to do, like help find cures.

Who says cancer treatment is based on evolutionary theory?

Those treatments benefit from standard biology, not anthropological Darwinian humanism which is your religion.

For one to be resting in a hospital bed their faith in science would have to be equal to or more than that of their faith in the supernatural. Why would anybody trust a doctor since they only really listen to scientists? Given, you have plenty of Christian doctors, but atheist doctors practice exactly the same medicine. And it's all based on exactly the same science. And that science incorporates evolution 100% without problem. The theory FITS PERFECTLY and explains things in a way that adds to our understanding. There is not a single piece of evidence that has been discovered in the history of civilization that can't be explained using one simple theory. Evolution explains everything perfectly. With the Bible, there are always questions that are just sidestepped away with "God's love and forgiveness" Don't question Him for HE IS ALWAYS RIGHTEOUS. No explanation required. Just shut up and do what you're told. The reason you should put faith in science is because it's always tested and it's always open to honest and open questioning based on the evidence.
