What are the health risks of living next to cancer treatment hospital?
I live in a suburban residential area, with no commercial area. Now the municipal government is imposing to us that a Hospital for cancer treatment will be built inside our closed residential area. So aside the construction planning or transport logistic problem that will arise from this decision, my neighbors and I want to know if there are any health risks from living next to a place that will provide cancer treatments with chemotherapy and radiation. Also is good to note that in our community we obtain our water from wells that reach the natural underground water reserves, these reserves are replenished every year during the rain season, the land here is very permeable and we always have to be very careful on the cleansing products we use so we don't contaminate our water reserves. We also want to know what an accident in this hospital could do to our water reserves. Please any help you can provide in info, links, books, reports, researches, investigations, etc, regarding this subject will be highly appreciated. For although we applaud the decision to create this hospital, we want to have it relocated to an area that will be best for the users and that wouldn't affect 3rd parties. Thank you for your help! and yes I know cancer is not contagious, like some wiseass just answered... What I mean, if I have not been clear enough, is that in a cancer treatment center they use radioactive material, a doctor mentioned to me that there are studies that show that people who live near a hospital where radioactive material is used people who leave near start to get sick in one way or another if this material is not kept properly. I am not asking about health risk for having sick people near by, I am talking about the machinery, materials and chemicals used in the premises that could affect the health of people around. We need real answers not timewasters. Thank you. and what I need, if possible, is a link to the mentioned studies, since I have not been able to find them. Thank you.

Nothing, in fact it's better for you. Now, if you get cancer, you can get it treated next door.
