Well, the type of treatment depends on what your pap smear showed. If you were diagnosed with high grade lesion, you would get a cervical biopsy to see how far the affected cells are to the basal layer of the cervix. It is usually recommended that a ECC (Endocervical curretting) is NOT done, nor anything too invasive. If you were diagnosed with a high grade lesion with the possibility of being invasive, they will probably do a cone biopsy, which is more invasive then a regular biopsy. They will take a 3D cone sized piece of cervix. This too, will let the pathologist know how invasive it is. If you have an already invasive carcinoma, then it might be a cone biopsy, then after your pregnancy, you may be looking at a hysterectomy. Also, if your cancer is glandular (not squamous), they just do the biopsies discribed above and would truly treat you after pregnancy. All of the above, are probabilites, your doctor and pathogist would have the correct recommendations.
