It is not really possible to tell exact reason. Yes radiation and chemo have carcinogenic effect but one can not say for sure those to be the only cause to get different cancer. Today only I did UGI scopy in a patient of treated for breast cancer and was under remmission ,but she has Ca.lower esophagus. Dear AM I got your mail but in Principal I am against to give opinion directly. As this is community oriented forum,it is best all should know. In cancer WHY and HOW are the Q still unresolved. Sorry but that is the fact. As for the patient I wrote I was astonished to see her will power, she requested me to get her Bx. report earliest so that she can go ahead with therapy earliest.

People with my cancer have a 25% chance of developing a second type of cancer. Doctors do not know why, other than to hypothesize that whatever unknown factors that predisposed us to the first type of cancer may make us more susceptible to other cancers. Radiation exposure from scans and treatment carries a small but increased risk of thyroid and other cancers.

a needle biopsy can cause a new cancer. When the sample is cut into or punched or scraped, there is a chance that some cells will be dislodged and carried by the blood to other sites where they can attach and start to grow. also chemo destroys the immune system response so that anything can take hold whether it is a bacteria, a virus or a dormant cancer cell and of course high dose radiation causes cancer.
